One of the most important activities of the project is to conduct regular monitoring of the components of biodiversity. Fish are one of the groups providing information about the environmental condition of the lake its functioning as an ecosystem.
With the partnership of the legendary bulgarian ichthyologist Stoyan Mihov on September 1 was held regular monitoring of species that inhabit salty waters of the lake. By specially prepared methodology for the project‘s purposes the control points were visited and fish populations was examined.
The results will provide useful information on the effects of applied conservation and restoration activities and will mark the condition of Atanasovsko Lake as one of the most important and rare Bulgarian ecosystems sheltering the unique living world of salty lagoon.
